Alabama National Guard Education Assistance Program

Program-- The Alabama National Guard Education Assistance Program provides tuition reimbursement of $500 per semester or quarter. No more than $1,000 annually.

Alaska National Guard State Tuition Assistance

Program-- This program provides 100 percent for tuition and fees up to $1000.00 per year. Primary considerations are first term soldiers, then 2LT-CPT(s) without bachelor's degrees, and then all remaining applicants.

Arizona National Guard State Education Priority Reimbursement

Program-- $400,000 has been allocated to provide educational assistance to soldiers by priority. May be used for a BA or lesser degree.

  • Priority 1 is soldiers in pay grade E-1 through E-6 with less than 6 years service. Those soldiers will receive a maximum of $55.00 per credit hour up to $1,250 per fiscal year.
  • Priority 2 is all other soldiers. Priority 2 soldiers will receive any money left after priority 1 soldiers have been paid. The remaining money will be divided equally between the soldier on the priority 2 list. Priority 2 soldiers will be identified 3 weeks after the start of the 2nd Semester.

Arkansas National Guard Tuition Incentive Program
(Currently not Funded)

Program-- The Arkansas Tuition Incentive Program is a one time award of up to $1,000 payable at $500 per semester for a total of two semesters.

  • Limited to soldiers in good standing and serving in as critical skill identified by the Adjutant General.
  • May be used for undergraduate studies only.
  • Must be an active drill member and must be enrolled as a full-time student at an approved Arkansas institution.

Colorado

Program-- 50% of Tuition Assistance (only) at State sponsored schools for all members of the Colorado National Guard.

  • Pays for BA; MA at the BA funding level.

Connecticut National Guard Tuition Waiver Program

Program-- 100% waiver of the tuition costs to any Connecticut state (public) university or community-technical college. Waiver costs applies to "tuition" only (no fees).

  • BA degrees only.
  • Member must be full-time, matriculated in a degree granting program at one of the four state universities.
  • Part time or full time students at the University of Connecticut and any one of the community-technical colleges can use the waiver program.

Delaware National Guard Tuition Assistance Program

Program-- State institution tuition and fees shall be reimbursed for the full amount expended, not to exceed the in-resident rate for any active member of the Delaware National Guard.

  • Must enroll in and attend a school, college or university within the State of Delaware. (Any institution).
  • Soldiers attending institutions within the State but who live outside the State are eligible to participate.

District of Columbia National Guard Scholarship

Program-- The D.C. National Guard Scholarship will reimburse members of the D.C. National Guard in an amount not to exceed $1,000 per individual during any given semester/quarter of an approved college, university or educational institution.

Florida National Guard Educational Assistance Programs

Programs-- Educational Dollars for Duty (EDD): Based on availability of funding, this program pays 100% of the tuition and fees at state community colleges and universities for members who enlist in the Florida National Guard on or after 1 July 1997.

  • State Tuition Exemption Program (STEP): This program is a 50% tuition and fee exemption program at state community colleges and universities on a space available basis for members of the Florida National Guard as of 30 June 1997.
  • Both programs only for up to undergraduate work at state supported schools or VOTECH at community colleges.

Georgia National Guard Service Cancelable Loan Fund
(Currently not Funded)

Program-- Currently the State of Georgia has an approved stature, OCGA 20-3-374 entitled Service Cancelable Loan Fund.

  • Will provide up to an $800 loan for full-time students and a $400 loan for half- time students.

Hawaii National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program

Program-- The Hawaii National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program provides 100% coverage to community colleges and 50% coverage to four year colleges. The member must be enrolled in a degree producing program. Only captain "O3" and below in rank eligible for benefits.

Program-- Eligible recipients are entitled to an exemption from payment of tuition and certain fees at state-controlled universities and community colleges. Fees are limited to registration, graduation, and general activity fees.

Iowa National Guard Tuition Aid Program

Program-- Iowa National Guard Tuition Aid Program (INGTAP) pays 50% of undergraduate tuition for active members of the Iowa National Guard at any state university and community college. Private school can also receive 50% TA not to exceed the Regents University tuition rate.

Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance Program

Program-- Can receive up to 100% of tuition and fees based on funding. Must attend a state supported university, community college, or vocational school. The award shall not exceed the amount of the tuition charged by the educational intuition minus any amount received from a government agency, an educational institution, charity, public education trust or other entity. Soldiers will be required to serve in the Kansas National Guard for 4 years after the last payment of State tuition assistance is paid. Enlisted Soldiers ONLY.

Program-- 100% TA at any state supported community college, vocational program or university. May be used for undergraduate or graduate courses. Enlisted Soldiers ONLY.

  • The award shall not exceed the amount of the tuition charged by the educational intuition minus any amount received from a government agency, an educational institution, charity, public education trust or other entity. Does not include MGIB.

    Program-- The tuition exemption is available at all Louisiana public institutions of higher learning.

  • Participants can use the benefit for five academic years (15 semesters/20quarters) or until receipt of a baccalaureate degree.

Program-- The State Tuition Assistance Waiver Program pays 25% of a 3 semester hour course at a state college.

Massachusetts National Guard Educational Assistance Program

Program-- The Educational Assistance Program waives the cost of tuition (100%) for Massachusetts ARNG soldiers attending a Massachusetts State college, university, or community college program that is funded through the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education

  • May be applied towards an associate, bachelor, masters, or doctoral degree in addition to individual fulfillment programs, provided the course or program is funded by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education.
  • Must not exceed 130 semester credit hours or related quarter hours.

Minnesota National Guard Tuition and Textbook Reimbursement

Program-- A portion of tuition and textbooks is reimbursed directly to the soldier upon satisfactory completion of the coursework.

  • University of Minnesota = $50.00/75.00 per quarter/semester credit
  • State Universities = $34.00/51.00 per quarter/semester credit
  • Community Colleges = $28.00/42.00 per quarter/semester credit
  • Technical Colleges = $ 28.00/42.00 per quarter/semester credit
  • Schools reporting in clock hours = $1.35 per clock hour.

Mississippi

Program-- Pays actual cost of tuition not to exceed $1,500 per term or $2,100 per fiscal year to a four college and pays actual cost of tuition not to exceed $525 per term or $1,050 per fiscal year at a community college. Only captain "O3" and below in rank eligible for benefits.

  • Terminates 10 years from date of first application.

Missouri National Guard State Sponsored Education Assistance Program

Program-- All members of the Missouri National Guard are eligible to receive a maximum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester or equivalent. The total award may not exceed the semester hour cost charged a Missouri resident at the University of Missouri for a total of 10 semesters. Only soldiers without a bachelor's degree are eligible to receive benefits under this program. Provides funding on a first come first serve basis based on available funding.

Montana National Guard Fee Waiver Account

Program-- The Fee Waiver Account is a non funded program at this time.

  • The fee waiver account is for enlisted members of the Montana National Guard up to the grade of E-7. To be used at state supported schools only.
  • Fee waiver account is for undergraduate studies only.

Nebraska National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program

Program-- Pays 50% of tuition only at any state-supported university, college, or community college or any independent, not-for-profit regionally accredited college or university in the state. Payment is at the resident tuition rates. Enlisted Soldiers ONLY.

No more than 1,200 members will be granted tuition assistance during any State fiscal year (1 July - 30 June).

Nevada National Guard Educational Encouragement Fund

Program-- Reimbursement may be made for up to 50% of the tuition paid by the member and will be based on classes completed with a "C" or better at selected accredited Nevada institutions .

  • Supports undergraduate, graduate, PHD programs.

New Hampshire National Guard Education Assistance Act

Program-- Waiver of the tuition cost of a course at a state supported post secondary institution, on a space available basis for the course. Tuition means the total semester, quarter, or classroom hour cost of instruction as established by the university.

Program-- State Law provides tuition free enrollment in any New Jersey State (public) college or university for certain members and certain surviving spouses and children of New Jersey National Guard members. Supports undergraduate degrees only.

New Mexico National Guard Tuition Scholarship Program

Program--The New Mexico National Guard Tuition Scholarship Program pays up to 100% of the cost of tuition (instructional fees in lieu of tuition, and laboratory shop fees specifically required), based on the availability of funds, for state supported schools. The scholarship applies to students pursuing their first degree at the undergraduate level or vocational studies.

New York Recruitment Incentive and Retention Program

Program-- The Recruitment Incentive and Retention Program pays the cost of tuition for credit bearing courses only. Tuition is defined as the total semester, quarter, or classroom hour cost of instruction for the institution excluding fees, book charges, and room and board.

  • Minimum enrollment for part-time is at least six, but less than twelve, credit hours per semester or at least four, but less than eight, semester hours per quarter at an institution.
  • Members may receive no more than eight semesters of full-time study, four academic years, or ten semesters if the program requires five years to complete. Members may not receive more than sixteen semesters of part-time study.

North Carolina National Guard Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

Program-- North Carolina National Guard Tuition Aid Program (TAP) pays up to $1,000 per year with a $4,000 career maximum.

  • State budget of $937,000, paid on a first come first served bases.

North Dakota National Guard Tuition Assistance/Grants Act.

Program-- Up to 100% tuition assistance for the basic tuition cost (no additional fees).

  • Payment will be made directly to the student in the form of reimbursement, upon receipt of the students transcripts.
  • The amount of reimbursement is based on the financial aid available to the student.

Ohio National Guard Tuition Grant Program

Program-- The Tuition Grant Program will pay 60% of the instructional charges (in state tuition rate only) of state assisted colleges and universities. This program is available for 4,000 students per academic term.

  • Tuition grant is not available for courses not applicable to or leading to an Associate or Baccalaureate degree.
  • Grants are available for full-time and part-time students who are actively enrolled in at least six credit hours or more of coursework.

Program-- The program waives the tuition (additional fees not included) at state supported 2 and 4 year colleges. Must be at least a half-time student.

Pennsylvania National Guard Education Assistance Program

Program-- The program will pay a full-time student up to $2313 per state fiscal year, 30 Jun to 1 Jul. Equal to or greater that 12 credit hours per semester. Only First Lieutenants "O2" and below in rank eligible for benefits.

  • The program will pay a part-time student up to $1156 per state fiscal year at a state sponsored school. More than 3 but less than 12 credit hours per semester.
  • May be used for up to a Masters degree,. However, may only be a full-time student for undergraduate studies. Graduates studies must be part-time.
  • School must be approved by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency and located in Pennsylvania.

Puerto Rico National Guard State Tuition Assistance Fund

Program-- The State Tuition Assistance Fund provides money to assist the soldier in the pursuit of an Associate, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree. May delegate use to the spouse or college children.

  • Member can use the funds to defray college costs for undergraduate courses with a stipend of $240 for twelve credits per semester or $225 for each three credits of a graduate course to a maximum of twelve graduate credits per year.

Rhode Island National Guard State Tuition Exemption Program

Program-- The State Tuition Exemption Program provides 1 free course per semester at the Community College of Rhode Island, University of Rhode Island, or the Rhode Island College. Must be working towards an Associates or Baccalaureate degree.

Four (4) free per enlistment, the member can get 4 more free for every year he/she extends his/her enlistment.

South Carolina National Guard Tuition Assistance Program

Program-- The benefit provided under this program shall consist of a monetary tuition assistance grant not to exceed $1,000 per academic/state fiscal year for a total of $4000 or 4 years. Benefits are payable for courses which begin after 1 July of each academic/state fiscal year. Benefits will be paid at the rate of no more than $500 per semester for full time students. A pro rated amount will be paid for less than 12 semester hours. May be used at State approved institutions (in state only). Cannot be used beyond the baccalaureate degree.

  • Program provides for partial tuition payments for eligible Utah National Guard members not to exceed $400 per semester or $800 per year for a total of $4,000. The amount to be paid will be pro-rated based on the number of semester hours the student is enrolled as indicated in the following schedule:

Virginia National Guard Tuition Assistance

Program-- The Virginia National Guard Tuition Assistance Program pays 50% of tuition not to exceed $500 per term and $1,000 per state fiscal year (1 Jul - 30 Jun). Priority is given to NPS, first term, and undergraduate students. Payment is made directly to the institution.

Washington Tuition Waived on a Space Available Basis

Program-- Sate Universities, regional universities, The Evergreen State College, and community colleges may waive all or a portion of tuition and fees for members of the Washington National Guard.


West Virginia National Guard Educational Encouragement Program

Program-- The Adjutant General of West Virginia may authorize the payment of up to 100% of the resident tuition and fees at any state supported college or university. The amount of tuition and fees paid for nonresident students shall be the same as the amount paid for West Virginia residents at that institution.

Wisconsin National Guard Tuition Grant Program

Program-- The Tuition Grant Program helps to pay for courses completed under both full and part-time study. Wisconsin National Guard members are eligible for a maximum of 8 semesters of full-time study (upon receiving a baccalaureate degree eligibility terminates). The Wisconsin National Guard Tuition Grant Program is reimbursement for 100% of actual tuition and will not exceed 100% of the tuition charged by the University of Wisconsin - Madison for a comparable number of credits at another institution.

  • The program may be used at any school eligible for Federal Financial Aids.
  • The application for the program must be received at State Headquarters within 90 days of the end of the semester or class.
  • All Warrant Officers and enlisted members in good standing are eligible while attending a qualifying school for undergraduate studies.
